Factorizations of some weighted spanning tree enumerators
We give factorizations for weighted spanning tree enumerators of Cartesian products of complete graphs, keeping track of fine weights related to degree sequences and edge directions. Our methods combine Kirchhoff’s Matrix-Tree Theorem with the technique of identification of factors.
متن کامل8.1 Min Degree Spanning Tree
This problem cab be shown to be NP-Hard by reducing Hamiltonian path to it. Essentially existence of a spanning tree of max degree two is equivalent to a having a Hamiltonian path in the graph. This also shows that the best approximation we can hope for (unless P = NP) is ∆∗ + 1 where ∆∗ is the max degree of the optimal tree. Note that we usually express approximations in a multiplicative form,...
متن کاملThe Directed Minimum-Degree Spanning Tree Problem
Consider a directed graph G = (V,E) with n vertices and a root vertex r ∈ V . The DMDST problem for G is one of constructing a spanning tree rooted at r, whose maximal degree is the smallest among all such spanning trees. The problem is known to be NP-hard. A quasipolynomial time approximation algorithm for this problem is presented. The algorithm finds a spanning tree whose maximal degree is a...
متن کاملOn the directed Full Degree Spanning Tree problem
We study the parameterized complexity of a directed analog of the Full Degree Spanning Tree problem where, given a digraph D and a nonnegative integer k, the goal is to construct a spanning out-tree T of D such that at least k vertices in T have the same out-degree as in D. We show that this problem is W[1]-hard even on the class of directed acyclic graphs. In the dual version, called Reduced D...
متن کاملThe minimum degree spanning tree problem on directed acyclic graphs
The minimum degree spanning tree problem has been studied extensively. In this paper, we present a polynomial time algorithm for the minimum degree spanning tree problem on directed acyclic graphs. The algorithm starts with an arbitrary spanning tree, and iteratively reduces the number of vertices of maximum degree. We can prove the algorithm must reduce a vertex of the maximum degree for each ...
